Comprehensive Vision exams include visual acuity and general eye health. The exam includes tests for signs of cataracts, glaucoma and other eye diseases. An examination may also reveal other health problems, including diabetes or high blood pressure.

Evaluations for fitting of soft contact lenses are performed, but at this time are limited to experienced wearers.
In children, a routine eye exam includes tests for near and distance vision; peripheral vision; the ability to use both eyes together; and eye tracking ability, all essential for reading skill development.
